We Care is dedicated to Suicide Prevention and Awareness in our Northern Arizona Community. Everyday we are committed to reducing Arizona’s High Suicide Rates and creating a pocket for support and resources for those struggling with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts.
▼ Why is Suicide Prevention So Important?
Suicide rates have been gradually rising since 2000, with 14.2 out of every 100,000 people taking their own lives. This equates to one American dying by suicide every 11 minutes (CDC 2022).

▼ Why Create a Local Organization for Suicide Prevention?
By creating local emphasis on this issue we can work on smaller-scale events and campaigns that work more personally in our community. Establishing local Suicide Prevention organizations allows easier referrals to accessible resources, such as mental health centers, hospitals, or homeless shelters.
▼ What is the 988 Number?
A free and confidential hotline number for mental health crises and distress that was established in July 2022. A change from the original national hotline number (1-800-273-TALK), the 988 number is meant to make this emergency mental health support more accessible and easier to remember. There are options for Deaf/Hoh individuals, Spanish-speaking providers, and translation services for other languages (988Lifeline.org).
